MEET REBECCA ROTZLER

Rebecca Rotzler served as Deputy Mayor of the Village of New Paltz from 2003-2007. A native Alaskan, New Paltz has been her home since choosing to raise her son, Lorin, here over 20 years ago. A Communication Studies major at SUNY New Paltz, she is now a Project Facilitator at Ulster BOCES in New Paltz. During her term she served as a liaison to the Fire Department, Rescue Squad, Police Commission, the Regatta, and the Ethics Committee. She also co-authored the Affordable Housing Law and created a Procurement Policy to ensure that purchased textiles (uniforms, flags, etc.) would be made in the United States and Union-made when possible. 

Most recently, Rebecca  co-founded Helping Hands of the Hudson Valley, an organization of hands-on volunteers dedicated to disaster relief. As a Project Manager, she traveled to Staten Island over a four month period serving Hurricane Sandy victims. She is registered as Red Cross volunteer and has National Incident Management System training. She attended many trainings through the Pace Land Use Law Center, including the four-day Land Use Leadership Alliance Training Program. She was the President of Students for a Free Tibet and a member of the Honors Program at SUNY New Paltz. She was an active member of the New Paltz-based 9-11 People Against Racism.
